You remember that I was working on the CG Electra? She looked like this after I re-rooted her and wiped her face:

It took a few tries–I was feeling very fussy about the kind of look I wanted her to have. I was getting more and more frustrated since my painting brushes are pretty much shot (and they do really affect how my painting turns out). I also did a repaint of an old re-rooted AJ jead, and touched up the face paint on the FR Giselle and Ayumi heads….photos to follow at some point!

I need to find a name for her and to decide about how old she is. How old does she look to you folks?

So what kind of impression does she make?

Okies I gotta go but I’d really love to hear your ideas on how old she might be!

Since C asked in the previous post, I managed to snap a few quick shots of what Isha currently looks like (bodiless, paint-less, and semi bald). As usual click on the image for a bigger version.

In the process of taking the photos they’ve revealed that her original paintjob has left staining in her vinyl. xD

That is a bummer, although without the flash on her it is difficult to see the stains. It sucks for me because I like to paint eyebrows on my own, and often, I find that the eyebrows declare the character/personality of the doll. I’m not sure exactly what I’ll do about this….

Possibilities:

try to paint her eyebrows over the old ones. (cop-out & unacceptable to me)

give her eyeshadow à la the 80′s (you remember the big eyeshadow days, right?) Make the eyeshadow cover any original eyebrow.

paint her eyebrows in my usual method and hope to skintone match where the originals show. Or Paint the eyebrows where I want and try to shade the areas where the originals are.

Or…as a last resort: sculpt in a few ridges and give her some sort of Klingon name. That’d work well with the bald spot, and the brows wouldn’t be an issue once they got a couple of layers of flocking :

(The above are examples of Klingons from the Star Trek franchise)

I’d lean toward the Klingon Solution except that:

I don’t have a single ST character/doll/action figure. She’d be lonely.

Isha’s FR body is way too spindly to be beefy enough to be a Klingon chick.

I doubt that Isha as a Klingon would blend in very well to the City of Quinlan where…eventually…she’ll be a businesswoman. *sigh* It seemed like a good idea!

As you can see, from the get-go Isha is proving to be problematic.

Perhaps that’s a good thing though. She’ll keep me busy at a time (now) when I am having a difficult time concentrating or working on anything.

Well this last weekend has been fruitful in two senses….

Figure wise:
I got to sit down and work on Viv and Cass. Viv is the re-rooted Ice head and Cass…well Cass is Takara’s Midori Washio head.

Here’s how they came out.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/corsetkitten/2754038153/" title="Vivienne: face shot by Corset_Kitten, on Flickr"target="_blank">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/corsetkitten/2754039031/" title="Cass version 3:smart-casual by Corset_Kitten, on Flickr"target="_blank"> <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/corsetkitten/2754869700/" title="Cass version 2: casual by Corset_Kitten, on Flickr"target="_blank">

I have been trying to paint Cass for literally months and it has proven to be a very frustrating experience.
When I actually managed to paint her last time …I messed up and she looked rather wall eyed (you can see that version here). I liked the general feel I had then but I don’t know about her new look….or should I say looks?

I decided that I wanted one that was “frouffed-up” so that she’d look good if it were an evening out kind of scene, and one that was more plain looking — “working” aka being semi-tomboyish. So one has plucked brows and girly girl lipstick color.
I may repaint them again in the future–but for now I need Cass to start re-shooting the new episodes of the Quinlan Chronicles. So…kind of close is better than not at all I think?

Clothing wise:
I managed to pick up some reduced fabric (6 bucks for 4 meters) and a bunch of trim. I was pissed off to find that the place I got my 000 hook & eyes from has stopped carrying them (ah well, it’s a flea market, so I guess I can’t moan too much)
but I did manage to get some metallic trim that I think will work well for some medieval-esque outfits.
