You might recall I got my paws on a Pow Wow Poncho Blythe a little while ago.  She was supposed to be my “model” girl so that when I sew and make things she can show them off. (this is because I am still customizing Emily (Natasha Moore Blythe) and I plan on putting her on an obitsu body for photostory use).  Anyway, I can’t ever leave well enough alone. I had to do something to make her more…well,  mine I guess.

So I gave it a shot (scroll past the photos and you can read about what happened & what I did) Also, does anyone care to suggest a name for her??

Before & After

Things didn’t go quite according to plan…

  • I discovered some flaws on the back of her head (back face plate) and couldn’t tell if it was from someone trying to get into her head at an earlier time or what. The plastic is indented and has fracture lines in it.
  • I gave a few tries at getting her scalp off (used the knife around it) but it wasn’t budging & I didn’t think it was going to be worth the effort (so no boggling her eyes).
  • Her eyes bug me a bit because they are so very downward-looking. It’s nice for some shots but actually changing the eyechips turned out to be a hassle. I had to tape her eyelashes back and try while holding the hot melt glue to hold the other eye so that it was sort of centered (it’s kind of hard to explain). I used some coocat eyechips I got from Plastic Paradise Forum.
  • I found it a lot more difficult to sandmatte her face while it was still attached to the whole head. I haven’t done the best job but I have managed to take off the major shininess.  I will probably go another round with it in the future when I’m feeling a little more love.
  • I repainted her lips but I only did them as a temporary “for now” measure.  I’ve never been a big fan of cotton candy pink lipstick, and she had puce green eyeshadow.  So not a color scheme I adore in cosmetics (ok, in anything!).They’re ok, and better than the Candy Pink ones but I can do better & smoother. Later.
  • Did my best to sad off the eyeshadow. Not certain I’m going to try to repaint them with any since it’d be more hassle since I’d not be removing the eyes)

  1. I have to say – what you did made such a huge difference! It must be the shininess being cut down, or something, but it really does have a great impact!

One eye still looks to be lower than the other, but if you can’t get into them, well, not much you can do about that ;P Removing as much of the eyeshadow as possible, too, was a good call indeed ~ it looks fantastic now!

    • Thanks Sam! :D I really have to agree–the difference in her appearance is I think in large part due to the shininess being banished!

You’re correct about the eye being wonky but I’m trying moving it around by hand in the head and its slightly (very) improved.

  2. She’s looks great. Love her eyes. I will tell you that if you plan to go into her head, if she hasn’t been open before, her scalp is glued on with super strong (does not dissolve in water) glue, so there will be much pulling, chipping, and cutting. With ADG Blythes it’s better to just get a new scalp and reroot because once you get it off the holes will be ruined and the scalp pulled out of shape, which is why my girl has messed up hair and I am working on making it look nicer instead of attempting scalp removal. As for the eye mech, it’s easy to fix, but first you have to get into the head, which you will have to saw open if it hasn’t been opened already. Yeah another hassle I didn’t want to go through. So I just accept the eyes and hair…for now, but some how I feel I will be brave enough to go in and change her some. But your gal looks great now and can’t wait to see if you do anything new to her.

    • Hey Chelle! :)

The version of PWP I have is the Takara one, not the AD one, but she does have the sbl head and it does mean I’d have to cut into the dome if I wanted to do anything (oh I should have checked it all out before I started but oh, wellllll)

At the moment I’m content with the new eyechips & the lack of eyeshadow…though I do plan on giving her another round of sandmatting & reapplying blush & a neutral toned eyeshadow. Ok, and yes, her lips too–they need a re-do as well!

I’d love to see some pics of your girl! c’mon post some?

  3. Oooh, she’s so much prettier now! So much better without the shine, it’s like you can see her more clearly. Did you do any carving on her nose? It looks a little smaller in the 2nd picture. Maybe just because it’s not shiny anymore. At any rate, she looks so much better! Did you change all her eye chips, or just one pair? Can’t wait for more Blythe updates!

    • Yea. She definitely is much more photogenic now! ;) (Speaking of the lack fo shine, I heard that the FBL faces that takara are putting on the new round of “simply” blythes are matte (or so much less shiny as to be matte in comparison to the regular blythes).

I didn’t carve her nose yet….I’d begun to “outline” it but I decided not to get too radical since I couldn’t get her head off LOL. I did very slightly carve her lips a bit but nothing too extreme.

I only changed one pair of eyechips right now (I only had 3 sets and Emily wanted one pair, one pair went into the basaak, and that left this pair for PWP). Although I really wish I had a second pair like these since I really love how they look with the big pupil & iris!

  4. You are a wild woman! Good luck getting everything done, though you always seem to make it work somehow! And kisses to Electra! I hope she’s feeling better!
