Today before going to the grocery store Mark & I stopped off at B&Q (the UK version of Home Depot). I wanted to check out the paint swatches (since I’d determined the color palette I wanted to use) and he wanted to find some glass paint for our gate & interior door.
Well the morning started off kind of crummy. We got out to find that someone keyed the side of the van. Not great. worse in fact because then mark concentrates & dwells on it. The neighbor’s car had been done too so I think it was just one of the many people who walk up and down the street w/o anything better to do. Similar to when the side mirror got punched off last year by the angry guy. :pouty:
Back to the point though—despite the crap start things turned out pretty well. Got to the store & managed to pick up some small samples (not free) of paint (50ml-100ml) in 3 colors (the muted teal, a cream/offwhite, and a red (I thought I’d go for it since I can’t be sure that the sheen on the original paint I had planned will work (but better too much paint to choose from than not enough). Better still each sample came in at under 2 pounds a shot which meant a little bit of money left! I picked up 2 samples of wall paper while I was there–I’m thinking of seeing if I can use it for the cafe’s flooring (if the dark wood floor ends up being too dark for the completed set).
Later this week (likely Sunday) we’ll get the walls completed (doors in set, skirtingboards & picture rail) so I can paint them, the doors & the trim.
Tomorrow I want to figure out some plans with the furniture and what I’m going to do with it. And for it–the counters especially need some thought & sketches doing. I figure I probably ought to have a plan before I blindly attack them with primer paint & glue!
Anyway am off to bed now.
