Mark & I went to Leamington Spa on Monday as he needed some wood glue and the only shop that sold the brand he was looking for was there. I had a bout of car-sickness but after we walked around in the cold & snow for a while it kind of disapated.  Anyway…..On the way back from the store we passed a thrift shop (they call them charity shops here) and in the window I saw the most marvelous little cat for just £1.oo

How could I resist?

I popped into the shop–all but certain someone else was going to come along and snatch it out of my grasp! (I sound like a nut, don’t I?)

Anyway here are a few quick pics: Classic Egyptian-esque cat

The cat appears to be made out of cast bronze (or maybe copper coated bronze?) and pretty heavy. It’d got some wear & tear on it but over all I think it was a fantastic find & will end up in someone’s office or home in The Quinlan Chronicles.

I just had to share!!! :)

What a great find! Love the candles and the candle holder too — that room looks life-sized. :)

Sheila thank you! I’m practicing making the candles –I’m hoping tp out those on etsy soon (and I’m really working to get my living-room set to look real so thanks for the awesome compliment!!)

Wow, great find, congrats! I’m sure it will work wonderfully as a backround detail or even as a plot mover (mysterious object?).

    Very nice find :)

Reminds me definitely of the many forms of Bastet statues.

I have a lousy plastic one I need to repaint myself.

    Again, good find :)

Ursula Thanks! I know I was (and still am) trilled with it. It makes me think of the small ones I saw years ago when I went to the british museum. (I didn’t have the funds then) and now this is like extra special to me! I’m not sure where it will end up in the chronicles but expect to see it eventually!

WillYep, definitely a homage to Bast. Even lousy plastic can be repainted to look good so please share it on your blog when you get around to it! I have a couple of plastic ones that I got from Yujin capsules and they’re awesome too (except for the seam lines)
