This was done as a trade with one of the friendly folk from Fantasy Net…I hope he likes it!

EDIT (8-23-07):    D’oh!!! I messed up! He wanted a dress to fit CY girls….I guess I’ll be sewing again today!!

My old Lea is modeling it (and having a bad hair day as well) I had considered repainting her when I found her in my junk box but I think maybe I don’t need to? (EDIT: I couldn’t resist trying it on Ayumi…her coloring seemed right for it too)

*more info about the dress at the end of the post*

And yes, I know….it could use an iron-ing! :D

and just one fun/play pict…

About the Dress:

It’s made of 100% linen (cream/ecru color).

I experimented with the stitches on my machine and used it to make the “trim” on the dress. It laces up the back with eyelets *the 1/16th size* and although you can’t really tell I also experimented with putting 2 top threads in on the arm “trim” (green and brown)

Best INtentions:

All in all it isnt a bad little dress (except that the trim is off center in the front) and that I didn’t really finish any of the seams the way I had planned on.And the sleeves are looser & longer than I intended–live and learn. Not bad for a pattern I made up myself ) ;)

I wanted to embellish it with seed beads sewn periodically in the “trim” but I haven’t got any beading needles and my patience is worn a bit….so he can do that if he wants :)

I think I might be on a slight medieval sewing kick now…I started to make a sideless surcote today out of black veleveteen, and  a gown (of bronze-y fabric)

  1. Whomever it is you’re trading with – he’s one lucky guy!
I’d like to see a picture of the back, please. ;)

Be sure to show some pics of the surcote and the other gown as well when they are finished – I’m curious.

  2. Thanks! :)

Unfortunately…..I misunderstood what he was asking for (he wanted a dress that will fit a cy girl!) D’oh! :?

Sooooo….I am going to try and put something else together today. I have a couple ideas so hopefully one of them will work out ok! (I never know until its finished if a dress/shirt/pants/clothes) will work out! ;)

Say, would you want to swap a pair of pants you made for FR for the dress? (none of my fr girls have any pants!!!) LOL

I have a pict of the back but it doesn’t really show it to its best advantage… ;) It is skewed (I dropped her and didn’t fix the back before I took the shot

    Here it is:

The back of dress…it looks a bit wonky since its slightly skewed and I made really long laces for it (doubled them up)

  3. See? Told you she’d look good in a medieval dress. ;)

And yes, if you really want to part with the dress I’d like to swap. Which trousers do you want?
