Some of my figures like to eat cake.  Some of them probably enjoy baking.  Unlike myself they can have all the cakes & goodies they want without any consequences to their waistlines…

What I’m getting at is that over the weekend I picked up some clay and decided to start experimenting with it. I’ve been browsing some different flickr groups and have been fighting the urge to try it for a month or two–but I’ve given in at last and am giving it a go!

So far… not a lot to show. I’ve discovered already (too bad) that my toaster oven is off by about 15 degrees. :(     Which meant I burnt my first batch of creations  xD

I ‘m starting out with cakes & the like and then maybe I will (as I get better at it and learn some techniques) make fruit and then some accessory bits. I’m trying to take it one step at a time though. If, eventually I can get things organized and the ball rolling in the right direction I am thinking of opening an Esty shop to sell stuff in (1:6 clothes, food, furniture etc). Things being the way they are I’m not bringing in a ton of money and it would be nice to afford some new doll stuff now and then.

Maybe later this week I’ll end up with a couple of usable pieces and I’ll post photos of them!  :p   Wish me luck! :D :) :D

  1. Good luck! Aside from the fun, think of the savings :D

  2. I’m looking forward to see your creations!

  3. Thanks! :D Things are coming along, and I’ll hopefully have some photos to share soon.

  4. I made this cake by following the directions here and scaling up from 1:12 to 1:6.

There are a bunch of other food tutorials at the cdhm.org site as well. :)

  5. Thanks for the link–it wasn’t exactly what I did, but I think I came out with an ok-ish result…I’ll get better with practice! ^_^
