I said previously that I was unhappy with my repaints.  I still am.   Stella being the one I was least pleased with she got wiped the same day she was painted. I’ve been trying to repaint her. This is what I’ve come up with:

Stella Before & After:

stella-1sw stella-1

All I can say is that at least now she doesn’t have that “robotic-glazed eye stare” that she started out with. And she and Lori look slightly more related in the eye-color department.

Here & now is where I say that I am NOT going to be doing any more repaints.  At least not any time soon.  My brushes are shot and I can’t seem to find any to replace them. The frustration that I am getting from painting (and knowing that half the dissatisfaction is due to my tools is just too much for me to deal with. Life is full of enough BS these days that I don’t need to add more to it).

So, until I’m either back home in the states, or someone in US retail realizes it DOES NOT COST 15 BUCKS to mail 2 paintbrushes snail mail…no more repaints.

  1. She looks much better : – ) I’m really seeing the expression on your repaint.
Just dropping in to see what you’re up to, and it’s outrageous that such an artiste can’t get brushes!
I estimate the shipping cost of two dinky little paint brushes First Class international to be about $2.50 American if you want a shipping buddy.
Sure, there’s no tracking number or insurance, but at that rate, you can afford to lose half the packages and still be ahead, LOL.
Let me know what the max value is on a package to avoid that new Customs fee. I hear you all are being hit with a new per-box fee on shipments over some ridiculously low amount.

  2. Are there any model/garage kit stores near your area? I’ve long stopped importing brushes from Volks, since I’m put off by their high S&H. I’m just as concerned about brush quality as you are, but these low-cost, “Ashley SERIES A.77″ brushes (size 000) do just as well, if not better than the Volks ones. Hope you find an affordable solution soon.

  3. Thanks guys! :)

Mizu: I haven’t ever used volks brushes. They were always too pricey IMO and without seeing one in person I wasn’t willing to drop that kind of money. The paint brushes I’m looking for are general hobbyist brushes–anywhere between 18/0- – 20/0….but getting those here –in Coventry–and specifically in the UK is just about impossible. Frustration. Especially since I’m used to living in a city with 3 or 4 art supply shops where it was so easy to get them (and paint supplies). I really regret taking it for granted.
